Wage-Slave Self-Help Centre

Christian charity (or Western philanthropy) disinterestedly distributing medical aid to Africans struck by Ebola

Welcome!

Is your landlord threatening you with eviction, or failing to maintain the property despite making you pay rent? Do you feel trapped in an unbearable family situation at home?

Are you treated unfairly by your boss? Over worked or underpaid, forced to do overtime, working without a contract, not receiving paid leave, lunch breaks or unemployment insurance, not being paid in full on time? Harassed by a racist creep?

Are you a student mistreated by your school? A 'foreigner' blackmailed by an authority? A female exploited by a male who holds power over you? Bullied by the local thugs, whether they be classmates, neighbours, cops, councilors, bureaucrats or gangsters?

Is your mind oppressed by the weight of your troubles? Does it feel as if there is no escape from a life of distress, isolation and disappointment? Has misery, boredom, sexual poverty, depression, anxiety and social emptiness filled your waking hours with the stuff of madness and nightmares?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, we'd like to invite you to talk to us about your situation and possible steps you could take to improve it.

Everybody knows that those in power tend to fuck people over, and usually get away with it even when they act illegally. Everybody knows that unions are usually useless, cops are completely corrupt,

politicians are profusely pathetic and decent lawyers are far too expensive. Most would agree that in this society justice is only for those who can pay for it, that in reality “freedom and democracy” = “be oppressed and shut up”. Most shrug their shoulders and say 'that's just the way it goes.'

Very few disagree that there is a war raging between the rich and the poor. Very few have any other answer than to keep their heads down and look out for themselves. Very few who are screwed-over seem to know that there is something simple they can do about it to help themselves. Very few seem to know that this help can be organised without having to hope for kind acts from friendly politicians, journalists, churches, charities, or NGOs... What is it? Direct-action: the self-help of the oppressed.

For generations, millions of people just like you have discovered an extremely important lesson that the bosses and owners of this world would like to keep well hidden: direct action gets satisfaction! In every imaginable situation, for every imaginable problem, people like you have refused to accept the bullshit of the high and mighty, come together to discuss their game-plan, fought back, and won. They have used the secret weapons of the powerless everywhere: solidarity, audacity, and strategy.

We are not politicians or bosses. We don't promise any magic solutions or have any product to sell.

What we offer is the opportunity to discover together different forms of action through which you, me, and those around us might help ourselves. The struggles of our ancestors and peers have given us many different tools that we can use, modify, and experiment with to change our lives and improve the situations in which we live. We can learn from these struggles and from one another and develop a plan of action together. Rather than keep the pain and humiliation of this miserable insane world bottled-up, where it eats away at our insides like a disease, we can talk about our suffering, bring it out into the open where we can confront the causes and fight against them. Rather than suffer alone, even though others are going through the same shit all around us, we can come together and act to put an end to it.

This is the only way people have ever managed to change the world and their own lives. We are tired of waiting for opportunities to come to us from others. We have begun to create them for ourselves. You are welcome to join us.
